Now that I’m putting more miles on the Civic and driving more highway two things have happened: I’ve started getting 36mpg per tank, and I took a good look at what could fail on my Honda and leave me a bloody pulp in a ditch somewhere. The biggest and most immediate issue was my springs. They were sagging all over the place, my rear was hellaflushed down the toilet and my rear listed severely to the driver side, as well as having an enormous 3”+ gap that would give the Brotruckalier a run for its money.
Gonna skip straight to a before:
And an after:
Here’s the front gap before and then after:
A rather impressive difference. Here are the struts that I put in. Stock struts with Skunk2 lowering springs.
Stock rears and aftermarket rears
Despite the length difference in the springs, the lowering springs actually ride higher. Yeah. That’s how shot my stock rear springs were. Two medium adults in the car bottomed out my suspension.
This is not how upper control arms work. It does allow much more room to maneuver the strut around.
Dat positive camber.
And a couple finished shots. Ride quality is excellent. Not bouncy at all, and body roll is significantly reduced. All in all I was working on this on and off from 1:00 to 4:30. I used a stopwatch to time my rear strut swap and it took 14 minutes and 38-ish seconds. Front was an hour and a half or so.
If you made it this far, have some CRX that keeps appearing in my garage.

Next, throw some Si alloys on that. I miss the real Hondas from the 90s.

Read my mind. I’ve been lusting after a set of these for ages. Would like to darken them a little to a gunmetal grey color, though.

Thank you! This is the height and a mod I had envisioned since before I got the car. It is incredibly satisfying to finally pull it off.
